We Are Non-profit Artist Run Gallery
ABOUT R SPACE
R Space Art Development Foundation (“R Space”) is a non-profit art organization run by Canadian Chinese artists in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Launched in 2016, R Space aims to promote cultural exchange through art and focuses on the clashing and merging of Chinese and Canadian cultures with an emphasize on the contemporary cultural theme of “immigration,” and introducing Chinese culture to the mainstream. R Space brought up the concept of “to ‘dock’ with mainstream thoughts.”
R Space is named after and the Chinese character "Rong" which means “to merge”. Our mission is to encourage the integration of the East-West cultural and aesthetic ideas. The space serves as a professional art platform for Chinese immigrants and diverse local audiences to create art works, discuss issues and research various topics.

PINS: THE NEW PROJECT BY GU XIONG
FEBRUARY 11- MARCH 31 , 2017
After a year of preparation, R Space Art Development Foundation is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new works by internationally renowned contemporary artist, and University of British Columbia tenured Professor, Gu Xiong. This exhibition at R Space will be a new solo project by Gu Xiong. It presents video, photos, installation and existing work. The sharp and stimulating “pins” are adopted as the primary object in the exploration of the identity transitions that immigrants go through, which is difficult to expressed with language.
The featured artists represented by R Space Art Development Foundation are shown in our gallery and promoted at other art shows we’re involved with. Our special relationship with these artists enables us to offer exclusive pieces from their catalogues to interested buyers and other art galleries.
